Celebrate Safely this Halloween

According to the National Safety Council, children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year. Follow these tips for a safe and enjoyable holiday:
- Plan your trick-or-treat route and accompany young children
- Stay on sidewalks, use crosswalks, and walk together in a group
- Wear light colored clothing, reflective markings, or carry a light to be seen in the dark
- Use a battery-operated candle or glow-stick in jack-o-lanterns rather than a live flame
- Prepare your pets for trick-or-treaters
- Inspect all treats before consuming
The City of Dixon Police Department will have extra officers on patrol to help keep everyone safe. The City of Dixon wishes everyone a happy and safe Halloween!
